I’m having the same problem as many others with repeated crashes of Lifetime Updater. I know the recommended (on this forum) answer is to select "Option 2" on the update screen and download the traditional way direct to my Nuvi.

Here’s the problem – the Nuvi 3490 doesn’t take power from the USB connection – it’s powered from the in-car mount. So I don’t think my device will stay powered up long enough for the download to work (I have a relatively slow 4MBs broadband connection).

Any ideas?
